25 Assam child scientists to attend national level NCSC in Jaipur

25 child scientists from Assam will attend the 19th National Children's Science Congress to be held in Jaipur National University campus (Rajasthan) from December 27 to 31.The child scientists had been selected at the state level NCSC held atNarayanpur (Lakhimpur) from October 13 to 16 under the supervision of ASTEC (Assam Science Technology & Environment Counsil) Guwahati.The child scientists had been selected on basis of their projects prepared on the focal theme Land Resources: Use for Prosperity, Savefor Posterity. According to Dr. Chandra Baruah, State Coordinator NCSC, Assam the child scientists will move to Jaipur via New Delhi byNE Express on December 24. A two days orientation programme has alsobeen arranged in Botany Dept of Cotton College Guwahati on December 22 and 23 before their departure to Jaipur.

Theselected child scientists are -BarashaDeka (Udalguri); Aryaprakash Kashyap (Dibrugarh); Matu Sarania (Baksa); Punkha Basumatary (Kokrajhar); Nikita Sengupta (Cachar); Manas Pratim Talukdar (Barpeta); Prastoti Bordoloi (Golaghat); MampiSaha (Nagaon); Kirat Saikia (Karbi Anglong);Rohan Chandra Das (Nalbari); Sekhar Pratim Gogoi (Jorhat); Kandarpa Neog (Sibsagar); Arifa Yeasmin Mazarbhuiya (Hailakandi); Chandana Deka and Kamal Lochan Hazarika (Darrang) Alivia Kakoti and Dhrubajyoti Kakoti (Lakhimpur); Surajita Sarma and Udipta Bhuan (Sonitpur); GaurabSaikia, Prathana Phukan and Ranuj Dutta (Dhemaji); Devam Kakoti, Jahnabi Dihingia and Ranabir Chakravorty (Tinsukia). The childscientists will include 11 girls and 14 boys. Dr. Chandra Baruah, State Coordinator, (NCSC) ASTEC will be the in charge of the statechild scientists team who will be back in the city on January 2, 2012.

Protesting against sharp price rise of essential commodities in the country,more than five hundred people mostly woman staged dharna in front of Kalaigaon Revenue Circle Office today on September 2 at 11 am on the day of Bharat Bandh.The protesters blocked the main gate of Kalaigaon Revenue Circle Office preventing government officials and employees including Additional Deputy Commissioner Udalguri.
