Assam minority woes echo in UP electioneering

Many AIUDF top leaders from Assam have been camping in UP to join electioneering to help Congress-SP alliance win the ongoing assembly polls.

These top leaders include all thirteen party legislators apart from the three Lok Sabha members. Led by party president Badaruddin Ajmal, the party leaders and legislators have been campaigning in the Muslim dominated areas.

In a number of rallies in UP, party leaders keep telling the plights of the religious minority people in Assam after an end to the Congress regime. They told the Muslim people to ensure the victory of SP-Congress allies in the polls.

“We are shocked to have heard the plights of the minorities in Assam as soon as the BJP led government installed in Assam. BJP or NDA us not at all friendlier to us,” said Mustaqu Islam who attended a rally in Ghaziabad.

Sajjan Ali, a local resident of Yushufpur area told Assam Times that the plights of the minority people in Assam is fabricated. “Why the allegation crops up only in the time of polls. We have heard the same old record during the erstwhile Congress government in Assam,” said Ali who contradicted the AIUDF leaders.

Rumki Begum at Surajnagar area in Noida said BJP is more minority friendly than Congress. She said,”who have been deceiving the minority people for decades? Congress indeed. Who has done a lot for the minorities? The answer us NDA. Then why do we vote Congress or SP?”
