voter awareness campaign failed to make impact on Dr.Manmohan Singh, Prim Minister of India, as he did not cast vote here. What do you expect from general public? Though he later on said that he has casted vote throuh Postal Ballot, he had to give the explanation due to report in the media fearing criticism- one feel.

Amid allegations of secret poll pact between Congress and AIUDF, chief minister Tarun Gogoi severally criticized Badaruddin Ajaml saying that the AIUDF president is not concerned with the issues confronting the people.Addressing a huge poll rally in Dhubri on Saturday, Gogoi called Ajmal an imported personality and that the scent of his perfume is momentary.He said that only Congress would be able to deliver the goods.

AAP candidate nomination rejected

Dibrugarh returning officer has rejected the nomination papers of Aam Admi Party candidate during the scrutiny on Saturday.According to sources, Tapan Sudbanshi’s  nomination papers have been rejected because of a glaring mistakes in the voter numbers of his proposer and seconder.  Other nomination papers are have been found correct and valid.With this, the number of contesting candidates in Dibrugarh is 7. Polling will take place on April 7.

Action imminent on Subba

Its confirm. Congress will expel Mani Kumar Subba who will contest independently from Tezpur.Disclosing this in Jorhat, APCC president Bhubneswar Kalita said that Subba would be expelled in a day or two for refusing to toe on the party line in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.The three time Congress MP on Friday filed nomination papers before the returning officer in Tezpur to contest as an independent candidate.

Bihali ghost revisits

Miscreants from Arunachal Pradesh are still unleashing terror in the Bihali area of Sonitpur district.The miscreants from the neighbouring state on Friday night attacked a buffalo camp in Bihali and sprayed several rounds of bullets to terrorize the local residents.Over 10 buffalos have sustained injury in the midnight attack forcing police to step in.The incident assumes significance hardly two months after the miscreants shot dead 15 people at a camp in Chauldhuwa. But no one has been arrested.   

Uneasy calm in poll meet

An uneasy situation prevailed in Jorhat during a Congress poll rally on Saturday.Local residents in large number assaulted a traffic policeman after a road mishap near the Bhugdoi bridge at a stone’s throw distance from the poll rally attended by APCC president Bhubneswar Kalita. The local residents further threatened to eliminate the ruling party before they were dispersed by police.

AGP steering panel meets

The Asom Gana Parishad is holding a brainstorming session on Saturday in Guwahati to fine tune the strategy for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.But the meeting to be chaired by president Prafulla Kumar Mahanta is expected to discuss the immediate withdrawal the suspension against Padma Hazarika.Hazarika’s help is required to help Tezpur candidate Joseph Toppo win the polls.   

Scrutiny of nominations in progress

Returning officers for Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Lakhimpur, Koliabor, Tezpur and Lakhimpur are examining the nomination papers on Saturday for the first phase of Lok Sabha polls slated for April 7.These five returning officers are going through altogether 53 nomination papers filed by the candidate till Friday.These include ten each in Tezpur and 13 in Kaliabor.
