Brown sugar caught at Barpeta town
A group of CRPF jawans today caught three persons with brown sugar at Jania Road, Metuakuchi at Barpeta town under Barpeta PS in Barpeta district at about 11.40. According to report said that the group of 6 CRPF ( No-C-10) batellian of Barpeta road Paat Bazar led by inspector of CRPF Bhim Singh had got the information about the drugs businessmen formerly and that is why the group were wandering at Jania road in order to catch the drugs businessmen. One of the CRPF jawans in dsguise of customer had been awaiting in a Tata Sumo ( As- 10-M-1473) for the drugs businessmen. As soon as one of the businessmen Chand Mia (30), son of Kurpan Ali of Kandapara under Barpeta PS in Barpeta district came to sell the Brown sugar to the jawan in exchange of three lakhs of rupees, he was caught red handed. The other two persons were about to fled away, but the group of CRPF jawans caught them. The two others were-- Nurul Haque Mallik(22), son of Abdul Baset Mallik of Jaher pam in Barpeta district under Barpeta PS and another one Samejuddin (35) son of Banij Mia of Bheragaon in Barpeta district. The CRPF group recovered from them a packet of suspected brown sugar ( 950 gm), three mobile hand sets. In the packet it was mentioned that it was manufactured in Thailand, Double Tiger, weight- 950 and at last a name was also written Dr. Umesh ch. Talukdar. According to the confession of Samejuddin Chand Mia brought the brown sugar packet and he( Samejuddin) contacted with the CRPF jawans. On the contrary Chand Mia had taken the brown sugar from one Inal. The cost of the seized brown sugar would be lakhs of rupees in international market. The people of Barpeta have been suffering tremendously for the erratic supply of electricity in the last few days. The supply is disrupted without any prior notice and this continues for a long period of time. The worst sufferers are the students community, industries, educational institutions etc.
Barpeta police seized one loaded truck log at Nagaon, about 10 km away from the town last night at about 2 pm. According to report said, the police visited various places of Barpeta last night and when they reached near Nagaon they found the truck on the road and they seized truck. The driver of the truck Rezzak Ali informed that these logs are coming from Nuntola of Saorbhog (to Bahari Saw mill) and the owner of this is Banjit Das of Barpeta. The cost of seized log is about Rs.1 lakh.
