A group of CRPF jawans today caught three persons with brown sugar at Jania Road, Metuakuchi at Barpeta town under Barpeta PS in Barpeta district at about 11.40. According to report said that the group of 6 CRPF ( No-C-10) batellian of Barpeta road Paat Bazar led by inspector of CRPF Bhim Singh had got the information about the drugs businessmen formerly and that is why the group were wandering at Jania road in order to catch the drugs businessmen. One of the CRPF jawans in dsguise of customer had been awaiting in a Tata Sumo ( As- 10-M-1473) for the drugs businessmen. As soon as one of the businessmen Chand Mia (30), son of Kurpan Ali of Kandapara under Barpeta PS in Barpeta district came to sell the Brown sugar to the jawan in exchange of three lakhs of rupees, he was caught red handed. The other two persons were about to fled away, but the group of CRPF jawans caught them. The two others were-- Nurul Haque Mallik(22), son of Abdul Baset Mallik of Jaher pam in Barpeta district under Barpeta PS and another one Samejuddin (35) son of Banij Mia of Bheragaon in Barpeta district. The CRPF group recovered from them a packet of suspected brown sugar ( 950 gm), three mobile hand sets. In the packet it was mentioned that it was manufactured in Thailand, Double Tiger, weight- 950 and at last a name was also written Dr. Umesh ch. Talukdar. According to the confession of Samejuddin Chand Mia brought the brown sugar packet and he( Samejuddin) contacted with the CRPF jawans. On the contrary Chand Mia had taken the brown sugar from one Inal. The cost of the seized brown sugar would be lakhs of rupees in international market. FIR registered against two judicial employees at Barpeta

The corruption of two officers of Barpeta district and Xatra judicial office came to light. According to reports, Ganapati Talukdar, Chirastadar, Barpeta District and Xatra Judicial office and his assistant Sukur Ali called the chowkidar Jitu Sarma to open the office on January 31 at 9.30 which was a holiday (Me-dam-Me-Phi). Two dacoits killed in encounter at Barpeta

Two dacoits were killed in an encounter at Jalakura bridge at Keotkuchi, about 4 km from Barpeta yesterday night. According report, a group police personnel headed by the ASP, DSP and TSI of Barpeta got information about the dacoits and they are awaiting for them at that place. As soon as they arrived the police try to catch them, but the encounter took place between the police and the dacoits. As a result two dacoits were killed and other fled away. A pistol, a deggar and a mobile handset were recovered from them. The dead dacoits were not identified till now.

Fake note recovered in Barpeta District

The DSP of Barpeta Sushanta Biswa Sarma with the police personnel of Barpeta and Kalgachiya i/c recovered fake notes worth Rs.11500 of 500 denominations from a one Alam Ali of Madrasapara of Kokila outpost in Barpeta district yesterday. The money was recovered at Barvitha near Kalgachiya. According to report, the business of fake currency was on going during last few days in the entire district. However, police could not find out the main culprit till filing o fthis report. Further investigation is going on.

AGP leaders visited Flooded areas

The central AGP members and MP Kumar Deepak Das today visited the flooded areas of Barpeta District under Sarbhog LAC.
