3rd Desang festival from February

The 3rd Desang festival starts from February 6 for 3(three) days with many colorful events. The festival is organised by the people of Desangmukh along with the district administration. The festival is held on the beautiful white riverine beach of the river Desang. During the festival various contests like boat race, kite flying, bike rally,traditional games etc. are held at the beach.An exhibition by local Self Help Group is organised where the artists demostrate various traditional products. The Assamese and traditional dishes of Desangmukh are also made available and a food festival is also organised. All along with these traditional cultural programmes were also organised.

Kathak Kendra a National Institute of Kathak Dance, New Delhi organise Kathak Yatra from 6-8 February 2009 at Sivasagar Natya Mandir, Sivasagar. The Kathak Yatra is supported by ONGC Ltd.,Assam Asset, Nazira and Dipanjali Sangeet Vidyslaya, Sivasagar. Many renowned kathak dancers from Assam and New Delhi perform in this Kathak Yatra.
