The Lawyers Association Guwahati, one of the oldest bar associations in the region established in 1885, held its general election peacefully on Friday to form the executive committee for the 2025–26 term.
The election saw enthusiastic participation from its members, including senior advocates and legal luminaries like Anil Kumar Bhattacharyya and Nekibur Zaman.
Prominent senior advocate Pradip Kumar Konwar was elected as President, winning by a margin of 241 votes. His leadership experience and developmental vision were widely appreciated by members.
Apurba Kumar Sarma was elected General Secretary, securing a margin of 196 votes, recognized for his organizational skills and dedication.
The newly elected executive committee is expected to work with commitment and responsibility to address the challenges faced by the legal fraternity and foster the growth of the association.
