In a bid to tap the budding potential of school students in
athletics the 1st Inter-
Udalguri District School Atheletics Meet-2018 was organized here at
Tangla Stadium ground in
Udalguri district on Saturday. The event organized by
Tangla Sports Association was witnessed widespread participation of nearly 300 athletes from 25 different schools of
Udalguri district. The
sports competitions included Running Race,Long Jump,High Jump,Javelin,Discuss,Shotput Throw,
Rally among others were held for both Boys and Girls categories. The opening ceremony was attended by former Panery MLA,Kumud

Eight persons were injured when a speeding passenger car turned turtle, at Mangaldai-Bhutiachang road in Ratanpur area under Tangla Police Station of Udalguri on Thursday noon. Tangla Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Pherengadao NGO members rescued two children from Tangla railway station on Saturday. The rescued kids were identified as Kaushik Adhikari (14) S/O Dhiren Adhikari, a resident of Debottar village under Golokganj PS of Dhubri district and Jyoti Rajput (14) of Uttar Pradesh. A robbery attempt was foiled in the town not by the police, but by citizens on Tangla on Friday. Reportedly, a bag snatcher allegedly attempted to snatch a bag containing cash of sixty thousand from a lady named Kalpana Baruah who just withdrew the amount from UCO bank ,when she raised voice and locals caught hold of him and thrased the youth.The public later handed over the youth to police who have now detained the youth at Tangla police station. Borengajuli Army and Tangla police jointly nabbed a NDFB cease fire cadre Sorbeswar Goyari (24) S/O Lakhiram Goyari on Thursday morning. The cadre is a resident of Thasobari village. Security forces have recovered a .22 country revolver. He has been booked under 387 IPC R/W sec 25(1) (a) Arms Act 1013 UA(P) act vide Tangla PS 47/17.
