Robbery attempt foiled

A robbery attempt was foiled in the town not by the police, but by citizens on Tangla on Friday. Reportedly, a bag snatcher allegedly attempted to snatch a bag containing cash of sixty thousand from a lady named Kalpana Baruah who just withdrew the amount from UCO bank ,when she raised voice and locals caught hold of him and thrased the youth.The public later handed over the youth to police who have now detained the youth at Tangla police station.

The accused has been identified as Rakesh Singh a resident of Alipurduar under Kamakhyaguri PS of West Bengal . He is beleived to be a part of bag snatching gang active in other parts of state as per sources.
