athletics the 1st Inter-
Udalguri District School Atheletics Meet-2018 was organized here at
Tangla Stadium ground in
Udalguri district on Saturday. The event organized by
Tangla Sports Association was witnessed widespread participation of nearly 300 athletes from 25 different schools of
Udalguri district. The
sports competitions included Running Race,Long Jump,High Jump,Javelin,Discuss,Shotput Throw,
Rally among others were held for both Boys and Girls categories. The opening ceremony was attended by former Panery MLA,Kumud

The Udalguri district committee of All Assam Gorkha Students' Union (AAGSU) has called 12 hour Udalguri district bandh on July 10 demanding immediate arrest of the miscreants involved in the damaging the statue of great Indian freedom fighter Major Swahid Durga Malla at Khowrang in Udalguri district on the fateful night of Wednesday. The statue of Indian freedom fighter Durga Malla was vandalized by some unknown miscreants at Khourang on Tuesday night. Ramesh Dahal, the president of Udalguri district committee Assam Gorkha Sanmilan, vehemently protested against this, calling it an instance of hate mongering. The dawn to dusk Assam bandh called by six communities demanding scheduled tribe (ST) status brought normal life to a standstill in Udalguri district on Monday. The Jana Jagaran society in a good deed towards mother nature organized a massive plantation drive at Bor Tangla L.P/ME School premises on Thursday. The normal life was totally paralyzed in Udalguri district during the 24 hour Assam bandh called by Pradip Ray faction of AKRSU on Wednesday. Tangla, Mazbat, Rowta were heavily affected with complete shutdown of buisiness establishments.Udalguri town owing to its weekly market day evoked mixed response. Schools and colleges remained unaffected with good attendence . Private vehicles were seen plying across the road. The government offices registered low attendence.Except few minor incidents no any major untoward incident was reported in the district till the filling of this report in the evening.
