athletics the 1st Inter-
Udalguri District School Atheletics Meet-2018 was organized here at
Tangla Stadium ground in
Udalguri district on Saturday. The event organized by
Tangla Sports Association was witnessed widespread participation of nearly 300 athletes from 25 different schools of
Udalguri district. The
sports competitions included Running Race,Long Jump,High Jump,Javelin,Discuss,Shotput Throw,
Rally among others were held for both Boys and Girls categories. The opening ceremony was attended by former Panery MLA,Kumud

A self styled sergeant major of ULFA(I) was gunned down in an encounter with security forces at Nalkhamra chuburi in Sunanaipara village, Udalguri on Thursday noon. Acting on intelligence inputs, a joint operation was launched by the Army and the police where the militant was gunned down in an exchange of fire with the security forces. Rowta Police busted a gang of bike lifters and arrested four persons besides recovering 4 stolen motorcycles from their possession on Thurday. Following the theft of a bike during the cultural night programme of Rowta Charali Rangmanch Bihu on Tuesday night, a police team immediately swung into action and recovered the stolen motorcycle along with three other bikes from Harisinga of Udalguri district on the same night. Meritious girl students of underpriviliged BPL class who cleared +2 Exams last year were awarded with a gearless scooter each in a ceremonial function at Udalguri HS School on Saturday. The 37th Bn Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) troops stationed at Bholatar B.O.P along the Indo-Bhutan border in Udalguri district recovered two pieces of Elephant tusk and a bi-cycle during routine patrolling near Shuklai river, Dimakuchi in the wee hours of Friday. The value of seized wild life product has been estimated to be about one lakh, stated a press statement. The seized items were handed over to the forest department.
