In a bid to tap the budding potential of school students in
athletics the 1st Inter-
Udalguri District School Atheletics Meet-2018 was organized here at
Tangla Stadium ground in
Udalguri district on Saturday. The event organized by
Tangla Sports Association was witnessed widespread participation of nearly 300 athletes from 25 different schools of
Udalguri district. The
sports competitions included Running Race,Long Jump,High Jump,Javelin,Discuss,Shotput Throw,
Rally among others were held for both Boys and Girls categories. The opening ceremony was attended by former Panery MLA,Kumud

Bhergaon SDO(C),Dithakananda
Hazarika; District
Sports Officer,Bhupen Rabha; Working
President of
Tangla Sports Association ,Khargeswar Boro; Internationally acclaimed Kabaddi referree,Nomal Rabha,journalist,Shajid Khan among others.From this meet, athletes will be selected for the
state level athletics meet informed event secretary,Mukunda Sarma Baruah. The dignitaries also distributed the athletes with medals and certificates.

The second phase of Gunotsav got underway in Udalguri district from Tuesday with three day hectic schedule. The Inspector of Schools of Udalguri ,Bhaben Deuri district informing this correspondent said that a total of 1,402 lower primary and upper primary schools and composite schools of the district would go under the external evaluation during the three day programme. The 1992 Tangla HSLC batch from different nearby schools organized a reunion providing an opportunity to the alumnae to walk down memory lane along with linking up with friends at Arunodoi Jr. College on Sunday. More than 50 members of the batch attended the event from different parts of the state. There seems to be no breakthrough into the woman who has gone missing from her residence at 1 No. Garuajhar near Panery in Udalguri on Monday. She is said to be Asha Begum, mother of a five year old son child who is still remaining clueless. Police have been investigating it acting on a complaint lodged by her husband Hasmat Ali.
