athletics the 1st Inter-
Udalguri District School Atheletics Meet-2018 was organized here at
Tangla Stadium ground in
Udalguri district on Saturday. The event organized by
Tangla Sports Association was witnessed widespread participation of nearly 300 athletes from 25 different schools of
Udalguri district. The
sports competitions included Running Race,Long Jump,High Jump,Javelin,Discuss,Shotput Throw,
Rally among others were held for both Boys and Girls categories. The opening ceremony was attended by former Panery MLA,Kumud

The Udalguri police held a youth on Wednesday for allegedly trying to extort money from a doctor. Identified as Dipankar Bora allegedly money from Udalguri Civil Hospital physician Dr. Bhagirath Dey who lodged a complaint with the police. They allegedly demanded money along with his accomplice Gusafang Basumatari in the name of a banned militant outfit. They threatened to kidnap his son for not paying Rs. 2,20,00. The Udalguri police probing the sensational Sidon Basumatary murder case in 2016 arrested three hostel boys in this connection. The freshmen social of Tangla College for the year 2017 was held at the college premises on Thursday where the new students were introduced to the old ones. The ceremony was followed by an open session and cultural programme. The students introduction ceremony was chaired by Swapen Acharjee.
