World environment day celebrated in Namrup

Namrup: Today all over the world is facing natural  calamities due to  cutting of green lands  and making buildings, sky towers. Here  in Namrup the World Environmental Day is celebrated by Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation Limited  (BVFCL) with  in a befitting manner with great  zeal and enthusiasm. 

Some of the notable activities undertaken as a part of celebration are  Essay and Drawing competition in all nearby schools to create  awareness amongst the school students about environmental issues.   A procession was organised by Basundhara Jatiya Vidyalaya students and teacher in the  theme of 'Beat Plastic Pollution ' .    

1000 plantation saplings were planted in schools and many organisation on the occasion under aegis of District Administration, Dibrugarh in connection with World Environment day. A week long observation ended with a seminar on this year UNEP theme, " Beat Plastic  Pollution "  held in BVFCL Training centre in the afternoon of 5th June where employees , students , teacher , and guardians were present.

Prizes for the  essay and drawing competition  were distributed amongst the 79 winning students at this seminar.

On the other hand Forest department also celebrated the environmental day by planting more than 400 saplings in dillighat area with corporation NTPS State Bank Namrup Branch , AGP Regional Committee , Poribekh Huraikhya Sanstha , Namrup Press and Society , CRPF , CISF and other organisations.

People in the Namrup daily bazar paid their homage to the Pulwama martyrs.  The programme was organsied by daily bazaar shop keepers assoctiation and local people of the area.
The 11 hour Assam bandh called by North East Students Organization ( NESO ) and All Assam Student Union ( AASU ) , supported by many other organizations opposing the Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016 was total in Namrup. The town wore a deserted look as vehicles of all kinds remained off the road. Schools and colleges, shops and markets, banks and offices were seen closed. The bandh supporters burnt tyers at Namrup Sonari Tiniali , BVFCL Main Gate , APL Main Gate and Sarmah Tiniali to stop the movement of vehicles.
The Namrup regional unit of All Assam Student Union ( AASU ) organsied protest against the controversial Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016 by blocking the road and burning tyers at Sonari tiniali. The demonstrators shouted slogans against the state and central governments exibiting play card "Kendriya Government Hai Hai, Raijya Sarkar Murdabad, Mukhyamantri kam nai". More than one hundred AASU activists and local people took part in the protest.
The year long Golden Jubilee of Namrup Sahitya Sabha is coming to an end with various cultural programmes. The programme was inagurated by working president Satrasingh Deuri. Seminar, poetry, cultural night, Book release were part of the event.
Namrup: AASU regional Committee observed the Swahid Divas on Monday with hosting of flag in Namrup Sonari Tiniali Swahid Mandap by regional committee president Kalpajit Gogoi. Assam Jatiyata Badi Yuba chatra Parishad , Namrup Tai Ahom Student Union  ,  Fertiliser Workers Union , Fertiliser  Swarmik Union , Gramya Unnayan Sangha etc and schools  and colleges representative took part in the event.
Polling concluded peacefully in the  three  panchayats - Kachari Pathar, Namrup and Santipur Panchayat - with 75 percent voter turnout. Situation became tense when more than 50 voters were deprived from voting in Santipur.

The largest ancient Hindu festival, dedicated to Lord Surya and Chhathi Maiya (known to be the wife of Surya), Chhath Puja is unique to the states of Bihar, Jharkhand, Eastern Uttar Pradesh and the country of Nepal. It is the only Vedic festival that is dedicated to the Sun God. The festival was celebrated in Namrup and it's neighbouring area with flavours on Tuesday.  
Namrup: There was total bandh in Namrup during the Assam Bandh called by 46 organisations in the state opposing citizenship amendment Bill 2016. Protesters burnt tyres in BVFCL Main Gate,  Sonari Tiniali, Namghar Chariali, Salibasa. Marketing complex, Schools, colleges, Government and private offices, Banks were all closed during the bandh.
