Guwahati Mayor visits Kokrajhar
Mrighen Sarania, Mayor of Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) visited in Kokrajhar to take stock of the implementation of Solid & Liquid Resources Management (SLRM) project, initiated by Kokrajhar Municipality Board on Saturday.
Sarania along with other officials from GMC held a meeting with chairman of KMB and Kokrajhar DC. He inspected the SLRM project sites in Kokrajhar town where all collected garbages are being segregated through cleaning up as well recycle methods. He also met staff and involved staffs of the SLRM project and shared views on the working policy has been put stress on the cleanliness measures.
‘We are here to take stock and note about the implementing of SLRM project which has been being taken by KMB to make Kokrajhar neat and clean’, Sarania said.
Bishnu Narzary, chairman of KMB told that the project started hardly one year. He said that citizens of Kokrajhar town responded well on the project engaging local people.

An adult elephant is engaged in a grim battle with death at a pit in Gossaigaon after it sustained injury on Thursday. The animal in dire strait was spotted at Nandipur near Kachugaon forest division office in Kokrajhar district. According to eye witnesses, a herd of 4-5 elephant reached the Nandipur near Kachugaon division in thr wee hours in search of food across the paddy crops along the Kachugaon forest. Properties worth several lakh were reduced to ashes when a massive fire broke out at a house at Bwrimukh in Mushalpur on Wednesday night. The fire originated from electric short circuit at the house of Buddadev Deka, a businessman in the locality by 1am late night. Local residents and a fire tender rushed the spot and doused the fire.
