Dilapidated PWD roads need urgent repair
Dilapidated state of most of the PWD roads in and around Kalaigaon town have been posing inconvenience to people, mostly school going students since long back. The all weather water filled large potholes at most of the places of Kalaigaon town have failed to draw attention of the PWD department or public representatives. The Bhatikhana Chowk in the heart of Kalaigaon town (just at two hundred meters distance from Kalaigaon police station) has been badly effected due to all time water logging. The condition of two KM portions of Kalaigaon-Rangamati PWD road (KR road), from Kalaigaon police station to Samalabari LP school has been worst for years.
Several schools are located on this KR road, namely- Sankardeb Sishu Niketan, Lokapriya Bordoloi Public School,Kalaigaon Girls HS,Kalaigaon Girls MVS,Milan LPS etc.The muddy waters of deep potholes create panicky among school going students, parents and other commuters. On the other hand, the Mckenzi Road starting from Kalaigaon ASTC station point towards Balipara and Bhehguri has nearly been abandoned for vehicular traffic.
Most portion of the road have been broken and washed away by flood every year.No repair of the road has taken place for a decade. The Kalaigaon-Bhakatpara PWD road has too been collapsed for several years.People of Kalaigaon expected repair and improvement of all the three vital PWD roads namely-Kalaigaon-Rangamati road;Kalaigaon-Bhakatpara road and Mckenzi road whenever BJP came to power. But condition of all the three vital PWD roads remained the same even after a year of BJP plus BPF rule in Assam.
