Abductors held in Kalaigaon
In a very drama like action Udalguri police successfully apprehended two abductors and rescued two persons who had been abducted yesterday within twenty four hours.According to information,one Arab Ali (30) was abducted by three miscreants on March 18 at 9 am from Mahaliajhar village under Kalaigaon police station.The kidnapped person was first driven to Jalukbari (Guwahati) area in a four wheeler vehicle.At eleven am on the same day abductors made a phone call to the elder brother of Arab Ali demanding an amount of rupees five lacs to be paid at village Borhi near Hajo.
Following instructions three family members arrived at Hajo for negotiation with the abductors.Following the incident,all the three persons were forcibly taken to an unidentified location around three km away from Hajo town.Finding no ransom money with the three people,miscreants gave ultimatum of twenty four hours time to pay the stipulated amount.On the other hand abductors held one Samsul Haque as surety before other two to go home for bringing the amount of rupees five lacs.
Finding no way,the family members lodged an FIR at Kalaigaon police station on March 19.Udalguri police swang into action immediately and apprehended two abductors namely - Habibullah Ali Ahmed(24),an inhabitant of village Kuria under Hajo police station and Rubul Ali (30) of village Goldigha under Mukalmuwa police station next day on March 20.Police also successfully rescued both the kidnapped persons namely Arab Ali and Samsul Haque.Kalaigaon police forwarded both the kidnappers to Udalguri jail (Case No. 25/17 U/S 122(B)/364 (A)/34 IPC).The whole operation was supervised by Pranjal Borah,SDPO,Bhergaon sub-division and Dimbeswar Das,Inspector cum Officer-in-Charge,Kalaigaon police station.It needs mentioning that police personnel of Hajo police station offered all logistic support to nab the culprits and rescuing the kidnapped persons.People of Kalaigaon and Bhergaon sub-division expressed satisfaction at the swift and timely action of Udalguri and Hajo police personnel.

In a joint operation,Udalguri police and 210 Cobra BN apprehended one Anowar Hussain and recovered two Chinese made grenades from his possession at Mazbat in Udalguri district today on August 9. Good news for the peasant fraternity. Over 45,000 farmers across the State have been covered under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) for the Kharif-2017 season. Among those who registered for the scheme, there were also over 1,700 non-loanee farmers as well. Over 29,400 hectares of land have been covered under the scheme. Ahu (autumn) paddy, Sali (winter) paddy, jute and black gram crops are the notified crops to have been covered under PMFBY during the Kharif-2017 season.
