World Disability day celebrated at Tangla

International Day of Persons with Disabilities recognizing the millions of incredible people with special abilities & the right to a life of dignity was celebrated with a day long programme at Chatgari ME school of Tangla on Saturday .

The programme was organized by Sarba Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) Udalguri block.The programme iniated with  flag hoisting by Mr Mukul Saharia, the Headmaster of Chatgari Govt M.V. School.

Nearly 30 disabled students took part in the programme hoping to draw attention to their plight.

Having come together at the Chatgari ME school  these differently-abled people stood shoulder to shoulder raising slogans of unity and took out a rally along the streets.

Head teacher ,Assistant teachers of different schools also joined the programe. The officials such as BEEO udalguri and cluster resource centre coordinator were present. The RP and ARP from inclusive education took initiative in  running the programe. Different activities such as musical chair, blind fold, up down etc were conducted. The students were given the message that the disabledstudents are also same as those normal sudents. In the end a Prize distribution ceremony  was also  held.

In a shocking incident, an advocate of Guwahati High Court has faced acid attack on Saturday evening. The advocate was attacked while she was getting down from a bus in Bharalumukh bus station in Bharaumukh area of Guwahati by unknown miscreants. Passengers of the 15618/Naharlagun - Guwahati InterCity Express  had to face a harrowing time on Sunday after the train was stopped due to a bomb planted at a Railway crossing near Tangla which later turned out to be a hoax. A youth named Bhajan Sarkar spotted a material which had wires coming out he immediately informed the police. A team of police headed by Pranjal Borah, SDPO Bhergaon rushed to the spot. A fire gutted down at least 4 to 5 huts in Dimakuchi daily market on Tuesday afternoon. The fire broke out  from a lighted cigarete and quickly spread to the other houses in the neighbourhood. Fire fighters from Dimakuchi and Tangla were rushed to the market and they quickly doused the fire.There was no report of any casualty or injury.The exact loss of property and its value was yet to be ascertained, sources added.
