Manas NP expanded to 850 sq.km

The Manas National Park (MNP) has got nod of approval for addition of 350 sq.km from Governor of Assam under Chirang division in west part of the National Park. Governor approved the first addition to Manas national Park yesterday under section 35 of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972(as amended up to date) which facilitates welfare of the expansion of the national park in the BTAD as well lower Assam districts.

Speaking the reporters at BTC Secretariat conference hall today,BTC deputy chief Kampa Borgoyary, who is also Forest in-charge told that Manas NP has now expanded to 850 sq.km after getting addition 350 sq.km which was approved by Governor of Assam. The Manas NP was first declared as World Heritage site in 1985 and since then it has been regarded best tourist spot in the region.

He said, ‘BTAD administration and forest department have been working to protect natural resources and wildlife through which today national park gained its attraction and conservation in the state. BTAD administration and forest department have been demanded addition land to make more sustained of the park since three years back and yesterday Governor cleared needy steps to the addition of land to the western area which connect Chirang division’.

Kampa said adding that addition of land will meet healthy livelihood of wildlife and natural beautification through pave way more area in its stability.

Borgoyary thanked Governor, state government and departmental staffs for making courageous step for conservation of forest wildlife as national park. He also said that forest department has been initiating to gain more attractive in the MNP by adopting new projects.

Borgoyary, replying to question on forest protection said that forest department has been taking stern step to check illegally destruction of forest trees and natural scenes. Forest department officials today seized three laden trucks which were illegally brought by timber smugglers on national highways.

He said BTC forest department was working to protect forest and wildlife after having transferred department under clause of BTC accord. There is a good communication with state government while discharging duty ad responsibility of the line departments in the region, Borgoyary told. He also said that forest has been decided to evict illegally encroached along forest area and strict actions are taking against deforestation in the region.

KOKRAJHAR: Citizens in Lower Assam districts including  Bodoland Territorial Council  have expressed happiness and gladness having found resumed of internet services today after eight days blockade. The internet service was found resumed at 9 am that saw smilling and happiness environment amongst the citizens in the region. KOKRAJHAR: The ruling partner in the state alliance government, the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) has said that the their party is going to participate in the ensuing 2020 BTC general elections.
