AJYCP strike on Monday

The move to auction 12 oil fields in Assam runs into a hail of state-wide protests. Announcing a slew of protest, the Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad threatens to intensify protest if the Centre refuses to restraint by July 8. Talking to Assam Times, AJYCP leaders in Sivasagar said they are holding a 12-hour strike at the oil field in Sivasagar district on Monday. On Tuesday, the influential organization will further block the national Highway No 37 in protest against the controversial move of the Modi Government. On July 8, they would block the rails opposing the move.

The big question is when Public Sector companies like OIL and ONGC cannot make profit from these fields, how can Private Sector Parties can make profit. Are they superior to ONGC or OIL in in technology, equipments and manpower ?

BTC Secretariat catches fire

KOKRAJHAR: Public properties worth several lakh along with many crucial documents reduced to ashes when a devastating the BTC secretariat caught fire in Kokrajhar on Friday. The fire which is believed to have originated from electric short circuit ravaged a portion of the ground floor in the wee hours. GUWAHATI: The Enforcement Directorate probing the multi crore chit fund scam is producing Sudipto Sen before a special court in Guwahati on Friday to carry out more investigation. Sen, the Saradha chief and his main associate Debojani Mukherjee were brought to the capital city to be kept at the Panbazar police station. HC to take Paul's bail plea on Friday

GUWAHATI: The Gauhati High Court will hear Rakesh Paul’s bail plea on Friday since the government has yet to submit the affidavit for hearing on Wednesday. A division bench of the court which took up the bail plea of the arrested APSC chairman asked the authority to ensure the submission by Thursday. Paul has been remanded to jail in a graft case pending with Bhangagarh police station where he allegedly demanded bribe from a candidate of an APSC interview.
