Sudipto, Debojani sent to Guwahati jail


GUWAHATI: A special court in Guwahati remanded Sdipto Sen to 14 days judicial custody after the Enforcement Directorate produced the Saradha Chit Fund chief was produced before it on Friday.

The court further sent Sen’s main associate Debojani Mukherjee to the jail after she was produced before it in the same multi crore scam where the chit fund duped lakhs of investors in the state a couple of years back.

The Enforcement Directorate probing the multi crore Sharadha chit fund scam produced Sudipto Sen before the special court in the morning.  An ED team brought the duo on Thursday afternoon to be kept at the Panbazar police station for the night. Before being produced before the court they were rushed to the Mahendra Mohan Chaudhry Hospital for health check up.       

As the entire scam came to light the state’s political landscape was put on the boil where three top political leaders were grilled by CBI which has been probing the case. CBI grilled Himanta Biswa Sarma, Ajan Dutta and Matang Sinh who was sent to jail three years back.
