The move to auction 12 oil fields in Assam runs into a hail of state-wide protests. Announcing a slew of protest, the Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad threatens to intensify protest if the Centre refuses to restraint by July 8. Talking to Assam Times, AJYCP leaders in Sivasagar said they are holding a 12-hour strike at the oil field in Sivasagar district on Monday. On Tuesday, the influential organization will further block the national Highway No 37 in protest against the controversial move of the Modi Government. On July 8, they would block the rails opposing the move.

The big question is when Public Sector companies like OIL and ONGC cannot make profit from these fields, how can Private Sector Parties can make profit. Are they superior to ONGC or OIL in in technology, equipments and manpower ?

Reliance ready to invest Rs 2,500 cr

RISHAB SAIKIA GUWAHATI: Reliance on Saturday promised a heft Rs 2500 crore investment in Assam in a number of sectors fetching huge hopes for nearly one lakh people in the premier north eastern state.  In his speech at the two days global investment summit in Guwahati on Satrday, Reliance chairman Mukesh Ambani said he was keen to invest the entire amount in retail, petroleum, telecom, tourism and sports which would require huge manpower within the next three years. Ambani further promised to set up new offices 145 district and sub divisional headquarters during this period to ensure sustainable income for around 20,000 people.

IOC promises huge investment

Modi to open investment summit in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a visit to Guwahati on Saturday to open the global investment summit in the premier north eastern city.
