AJYCP strike on Monday

The move to auction 12 oil fields in Assam runs into a hail of state-wide protests. Announcing a slew of protest, the Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad threatens to intensify protest if the Centre refuses to restraint by July 8. Talking to Assam Times, AJYCP leaders in Sivasagar said they are holding a 12-hour strike at the oil field in Sivasagar district on Monday. On Tuesday, the influential organization will further block the national Highway No 37 in protest against the controversial move of the Modi Government. On July 8, they would block the rails opposing the move.

The big question is when Public Sector companies like OIL and ONGC cannot make profit from these fields, how can Private Sector Parties can make profit. Are they superior to ONGC or OIL in in technology, equipments and manpower ?

Bail for Matang Sinh in chit fund scam

NEW DELHI: Finally Matang Sinh procured bail three years after CBI arrested the former Union minister in the chit fund scam. A bench of the Calcutta High Court on Monday granted conditional bail to Sinh asking him to appear before the CBI officials once in a week. The media baron would be able to leave Kolkata only with prior permission from the high court. The country's premier investigation agency caught Sinh on January 31,2015 after interrogating him for a couple of hours in Kolkata in connection.

Guwahati trader shot dead

GUWAHATI: Unidentified gunmen shot dead an aged business man in Guwahati triggering huge shock and anger in the city on Monday. The incident took place at around 9.30 in the evening in Bijoy Nagar when Shatital Jain was on his way back to his home from his business establishment. Two motorcycle born gunmen halted him on the road side and snatched his bag and sprayed two round of bullets on his body from a point blank range and vanished. A critically injured Jain was rushed to the hospital where he died. Many businessmen in the city have demanded immediate arrest of the gunmen who killed the businessman. KOHIMA: Sensing an unprecedented constitutional crisis, the political parties in Nagaland have resolved to boycott the upcoming assembly polls slated for February 27. DIPHU: Two people died and another is battling with life when a bus rammed into a group of picknickers in Karbi Anglong district on Monday. The incident took place in the morning at Bheloghat where the pucknickers were walking in the spot. Rhino strikes terror: 1 killed in Majuli

    JORHAT: A strayed rhino from Kaziranga strikes no less terror in Majuli killing an old man in the river island on Monday. The full grown animal which came out of the National Park two days back attacked Baloram Das at his house premises in the Bhakat Chapori area early in the morning. KOKRAJHAR: Hundreds of ABSU leaders and workers took out a candle light protest in Kokrajhar on Sunday evening in protest against the Maibong incident where two protesters were killed in police firing. The participating protesters demanded an impartial probe into the police firing incident, action against guilty officers apart from adequate compensation for the deceased families. Mother kills daughters, commits suicide

HOJAI: Caught in abject penury, a woman in killed her two daughters before committing suicide in Hojai sending huge shockwaves across the state on Sunday. The bizarre incident took place in Ghoranola area on Sunday Chayanika Barman was found hanging at a tree near her house. Her two daughters were also found dead nearby in the same condition.
