On April 1 and 2, the typically cold and dark Ukhrul nights with cloudy drizzling skies, came alive for a worthy reason. Those were the glamorous nights when the red carpet premiere show -- a first of its kind in the district -- of the highly-anticipated new Tangkhul feature film 'Kha Yurna Mataimei' turned the usual plain humdrum Town Hall into a perfect milieu for the two-day premiere extravaganza.
After receiving much acclaims for its state of the art picturization at premiers in a few select India's metro cities like Delhi, Mumbai and Bangaluru last month, Ukhrul is the fourth place to screen the movie with the host I-Hao Facebook Group rolling out red carpet reception to the cast and crew members of the film.
Ahead of the screening, I-Hao team introduced and interacted with the cast and crew members in front of a mammoth crowd of fans, guests and well wishers, giving a closer peek into the premiere affairs. Joined by the cast and crew of the film with the public, the show was graced by KVS chairman Khashim Vashum and his better half V Planning as special guests adding to the pomp of the event.
"It's a landmark achievement that Tangkhul has produced a good quality film where technology and performance have greatly improved," said Vashum lauding the Meiphung Production team on the success of the film. This film should testify that Tangkhul artists have potentials to compete with well established artists and cannot be taken for granted any longer, he said.
Norbert Khayi TNL general secretary, while exhorting the Meiphung Production team on its achievement, assured to cooperate with district film makers to boost Tangkhul filmdom in the days ahead.
Ramnganing Ruivah CEO Meiphung Production, called upon members of the community to extend support to Tangkhul films and artists so that it can consolidate its position as a recognized filmdom. He then said that it is imperative to make films that can challenge the stereotyped notions about Tangkhul films.
In the event, Meiphung Production conferred Lifetime Achievement Award to two veteran Tangkhul artists Chihansing Zimik and Sarenah Raikhan in recognition of their achievement.
Speaking to media persons, Tennoson Pheirey of I-Hao Facebook Group said that the two day premiere show was well attended with the guests and crowd packing the town hall to its 600 seats capacity.
One significant thing about the show was that nothing untoward happened to mar the glamour and fervour of the same, unlike other night shows like concerts or entertainment events normally held in the town, for which we are thankful to SP Ukhrul Police Ningsem Vashum.
We are grateful to Meiphung Production for reposing faith in IHao to host the grand event, he said while extending gratitude to all the viewers for the support and cooperation.
Featuring Khavangpam Mahung, Timmi Rinpam Lunghar, and Wunthingchon R Shimray in the lead roles, the film is made on the story depicting that nothing in the world, not even the bond of two lovers, stands taller than the love for one's Nation and God. Other members of the cast included Kanring Vashum, Wunglensing Longleng, Chihansing Zimik, Atai Chawung, Wonchipem Kasar, Precinah Shimray, Linen Woleng, Kapangsing, Washington, Sochihan and Wungshing. Directed by debutant Riyo Varam, the film is produced by Meiphung Production as its debut venture.
