BJP gives 24 seats to AGP in Assembly polls
Keeping an escalating protest at bay, AGP formalized poll deal with BJP on Thursday where the regional party would be contesting in 24 seats. "Other seats are left for BJP and alliance," said BJP spokesman Ravi Shankar Prasad who addressed a joint press conference in New Delhi.
The BJP leader said, "AGP will contest in Naharkatiya, Teok, Amguri, Bongaigaon, Bilasipara, Sarukhetri, Dalgaon, Lahorighat, Jamunamukh, Borhompur, Bokakhat, Sarupathar, Dergaon, South Abhayapuri, North Abhayapuri, Lakhimpur,Kaliabor, West Guwahati, Chaygaon and Boko, Pattacharkuchi, Kamalpur, Tezpur, Barpeta and Jalukbari."
AGP president Atul Bora who was present in the press conference said that the deal is the need of the hour to keep Congress away from power.

The surrendered ULFA activists staged demonstration in New Delhi on Tuesday demanding inner line permit in the state apart from raising a few other issues. At 10 in the morning, more than 50 surrendered ULFA activists thronged the Jantar Mantar in the capital and started the dharma. "We want ILP in the state. Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi is all prepared to stage dharna in front of Parliament on Wednesday alleging non receipt of central funds to the state. Party MPs from both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha are also joining Gogoi at 11 in the morning. Senior Congress leaders told Assam Times that along with the Ex-Assam MPs, they want party president Sonia Gandhi to join the dharna. Gogoi announced the dharna plan a couple of days back giving a deadline. The Election Commission is preparing to hold Assam assembly polls early next year.
