Incentive to brilliant students in BTC
Altogether five brilliant students who secured positions in the last HSLC and HS examinations for the year 2014 & 2015 were felicitated and handed over cheque amounting Rs 2 lakhs each by the Director of Education, BTC .
BTC deputy chief, handed over the cheques at his office chamber at the BTC Secretariat in Kokrajhar today.
Among the students receiving the cheques are Hriday Jyoti Ojha from National Pioneer College, Tangla of Ualguri, who stood 5th position in the HS in 2014, Ashim Majumdar of St John’s HS school, Barama of Baksa who stood 4th position in the HSLC in 2015, Bibekajyoti Boro of Sankardev Vidyaneketan, Tamulpur in Baksa, 10 position in the HSLC in 2015, Aithjhya Bhaduri and Priyasa Kundu, both of Bongaigaon Refinery HS school, Dhaligaon in Chirang and secured 5th and 8th position respectively in the HSLC 2015.
Borgoyary said that the BTC authority was working to encourage the students to work hard and council will be giving helping hand to brilliant students who are aspired tithe good career in their higher studies. He said 18 students from the Bodoland region who have been selected and got admitted in the IIT and IIM will also be given the incentive for their higher studies.
Borgoyary also said that BTC authority will give scholarships to 25-30 brilliant students preparing for UPSC examination from the region.

A NDFB-S cadre was apprehended from Dimruguri under Kachugaon police station in Kokrajhar district today. Based on information, a joint operation was launched by army and Kokrajhar police and apprehended the rebel. He was identified as Pankaj Brahma alias Kamlan alias Kayal, 18, One 7.65 mm pistol, a magazine and three rounds live ammunition of 7.65 mm were recovered from him, said a senior police officer. Police said the rebel was involved in many cases of extortion and money collection.
The Kokrajhar police have arrested two more people for trying to extort money from a contractor of NTPC in Salakati. Two others were held on Sunday night from Basugaon town of Chirang district. All they were trying to extort money from the contractor in Harigaon on Saturday in the name of NDFB. Govindo Barman was caught red handed. It was he who revealed the names of two more persons to be picked up from Basugaon. They were identified as Krishna Debnath and Utpal Pandit. One more extornist arrested by police who was involved with extortion demand from a contractor of NTPC under Salakati police outpost in Kokrajhar late last night. Four persons were rushed to Harigaon yesterday to receive demand money in the name of NDFB-S where one Govindo Barman was red handed arrested, and on his revealed another involved person was arrested last night and two others are absconding. The arrested was identifiec as Biplob Debnath while absconding are identified as Krishna Debnath and Utpal Pandit. A fake NDFB-S was arrested by public from Harigaon area under Salakati police outpost this evening in Kokrajhar. The arrested was identified as Gobindo Barman of Banderchara, was arrested red handed by common publics while coming to take demanded money on behalf of NDFB-S from a contractor of NTPC in Kokrajhar. Barman demanded 50,000 in the name NDFB-S where the contractor had also given away demanded money and he was red handed by publics, said a resident of Salakati.
