Incentive to brilliant students in BTC

Altogether five brilliant students who secured positions in the last HSLC and HS examinations for the year 2014 & 2015 were  felicitated and handed over cheque amounting Rs 2 lakhs each by the Director of Education, BTC .

BTC deputy chief, handed over the cheques at his office chamber at the BTC Secretariat in Kokrajhar today. 

Among the students receiving the cheques are Hriday Jyoti Ojha from National Pioneer College, Tangla of Ualguri, who stood 5th position in the HS in 2014, Ashim Majumdar of St John’s HS school, Barama of Baksa who stood 4th position in the HSLC in 2015, Bibekajyoti Boro of Sankardev Vidyaneketan, Tamulpur in Baksa, 10 position in the HSLC in 2015, Aithjhya Bhaduri and Priyasa Kundu, both  of Bongaigaon Refinery HS school, Dhaligaon in Chirang and secured 5th and 8th position respectively in the HSLC 2015.

Borgoyary said that the BTC authority was   working to encourage the students to work hard and council will be giving helping hand to brilliant students who are aspired tithe good career in their higher studies. He said 18 students from the Bodoland region who have been selected and got admitted in the IIT and IIM will also be given the incentive for their higher studies. 

Borgoyary also said that BTC authority will give scholarships to 25-30 brilliant students preparing for UPSC examination from the region.

Two persons died when a moving truck rammed into a bike in which they were riding in Kokrajhar district on Sunday. The tragic incident took place in the afternoon when Bhanudev Basumatary and Harkeswar Roy were travelling to Patgaon from Ramfalbikk on the National Highway. Suddenly, the truck which was coming from the same direction rammed into the bikers leaving them died on the spot.        
Dreaded NDFB-S militant B Bidai was believed to have a narrow escape when security forces raided a remote village in Chirang district on Sunday.Acting on a tip off, police and CRPF jawans conducted a raid in Amlaigur village in the BTAD district where a fierce gun battle took place in the wee hours. A linkman is said to have been killed in the encounter where the most wanted militant managed to disappear from the spot. Security forces have been cordoning off the entire are in search of the fatal militant. Police claimed to have seized some arms and ammunition from the spot.

Finally, Proneeta Swargiyary clinched the DID Season 5 title by the Zee TV fetching no less pride and glory for the north eastern region. Proneeta, a school girl hailing from Baska district of Assam was adjudged the best one on Friday in Mumbai. Kashibari Youth Club from Udalguri beat DASA XI from Dotma 6-2 in Friday’s match of Daoharu Mungklong Trophy at Dotma DASA ground in Kokrajhar. For DASA XI, Arpon Basumatary netted the first goal in 21 minutes against Kashibari. For Kashibari, Arindom Dev scored first goal in 29 minutes and Wine Daimary scored the second one goal in 36 minutes. Hundreds of employees of BTC temporary employees staged three dharna in front of DC office in Kokrajhar raising their demand and grievances on Friday. Their demands include steps to regularize their jobs and fresh appointment either fixed pay or regular in the council. With banners and festoons in their hands, the protestors under the banner of BTC CSB selected Un - regularised Employees Association shouted slogans to raise their demands. A student of Central Institute of Technology, Kokrajhar identified as Jangila Basumatary, 25, died and a rider received injury early this morning at a road mishap in Kokrajhar town. Jangila was last year student of B Tech in CIT, Kokrajhar met a road mishap at Habrubari over bridge this morning around 4.30 am with his bike. Bike rider injury was immediately rushed to Kokrajhar hospital.Jangila was hailed from Baganpur Nikashi of Baksa district and lived at rented lodging in Kokrajhar.
