Modi's effigy burnt

Members from Sadou Assam Goria Maria Deshi Jatiya Parsishad protested the decision of the union government to accord citizenship right to Hindu migrants from Bangladesh and burnt effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Baruapara in Kokrajhar district on Thursday. 

The parishad strongly objected and demanded early stop of decision to grant entry and stay right to Hindu migrants in Assam from Bangladesh.

The illegal migrants of Bangladesh irrespective of religion should be sent back to their country. There is no place for Hindu Bangladeshi or Muslim Bangladeshi in Assam.

ABSU organises special convention

A special convention has been organised by the All Bodo Student Union (ABSU)  to discuss on various issues related to the Bodos and other tribal communities in the state, including on Bodoland, protection of tribal belts & blocks, illegal migrants and on education problem,which has begun from today at Patgaon in Kokrajhar with two days programme. Wild elephants unleashing terror

Three houses of two families were  destroyed by wild elephants late last night at Jharbari near Range Office under Haltugaon forest division in Kokrajhar district along India-Bhutan border. They victim family said the elephants from the nearby Ripu-Chirang Reserve Forest entered human habitation and damaged houses belonging to Ethimaya Rai and Prakash Pathak. There was, however, no loss of life. Last year, one person died in the village after he was attacked by wild tusker. Bolero van recovered

Police recovered a Bolero pickup van from Kokrajhar town near Anikha Hotel on Tuesday.The Bolero with registration number plate less was parking at the town and suspicion by the public latter informed the police which lead to recover the van.  The police said that they have been observing the van for owner but none having owner they picked up the van. It is suspected that the car lifter was brought it after theft and parked in the town, police said.  

BTC summer session

The one day summer session of Bodoland Territorial Council Legislative Assembly (BTCLA) held today passed the estimated expenditure for the period of six months beginning from April to September, 2014 amounting to Rs. 120919.50 lakhs from plan and non plan fund. The session was begun at 10 am,was chaired by Paniram Brahma, speaker of the BTCLA at Bodofa Nwgwr in Kokrajhar. The executive member (EM) for Social welfare department Sabharam Basumatary brought the motion of vote on account on the budget estimate for the six months from April to September of the current financial year 2014-15. Anti-poaching camp at Manas

Former Assam minister and  Kokrajhar east MLA Pramila Rani Brahma and the All Bodo Women Welfare Federation (ABWWF) delegation visited on Friday the spot of the killing of a young girl at Joypur village under Kokrajhar police station late last night and demanded early arrests of involved culprits with the incident. Urban development building

  BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary inaugurated the newly constructed building of the BTC council head of department(CHD) of Urban development department along JD Road  on Friday in Kokrajhar. The building was constructed at a costs of Rs.228.16 Lakhs under the plan funds of BTC in 2009-10 and 2010-201,of which Rs.111.85 Lakhs has been spent of fourth floor in its proposed complex.The building will also be accomodation for offices of  the the deputy Director,Town and Country Planning and  Chairman of Kokrajhar Development Authority. Body recovered

A body of a young girl identified as Nazmin Nara Begum alias Bulbuli (18), HS passed student in recent declared results was recovered from Joypur village on hanged under Kokrajhar police station this morning. Family members said she was sleeping at her room late last and was missing from chilly night around 1am and searched whole night,but not tracedout.Villagers of the Joypur saw the body this morning and informed the police.The body was bored of injury marks on her back and neck.Her body has been brought to Kokrajhar police station for postmortem,said a police officer. Police started its investigation into incident and it might be love affairs, police stated.
