Modi's effigy burnt

Members from Sadou Assam Goria Maria Deshi Jatiya Parsishad protested the decision of the union government to accord citizenship right to Hindu migrants from Bangladesh and burnt effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Baruapara in Kokrajhar district on Thursday. 

The parishad strongly objected and demanded early stop of decision to grant entry and stay right to Hindu migrants in Assam from Bangladesh.

The illegal migrants of Bangladesh irrespective of religion should be sent back to their country. There is no place for Hindu Bangladeshi or Muslim Bangladeshi in Assam.

Journalist Dhananjoy Nath, staff reporter of Dainik Janasadaran and Secretary of Kokrajhar Press Club  was attacked by the unidentified miscreant on Thursday evening around 7.15 pm. when he was on his way from Kokrajhar Tiniali to Bhutiyapara, his home. Nath said that two motorcycles borne miscreants tried  to kidnap him showing a pistol. Three orphaned Asiatic black bears cubs (Ursus thibetanus) were moved into the wild in Manas National Park on Thursday in Baksa district. The cubs were found alone in Mayanpara, Siyalmara and Kumarikhata villages in the fringes of the UNESCO World Heritage in December last year. A 101-year-old woman died in Kokrajhar leaving behind a pall of gloom in the entire district on Tuesday.She was none other than Saoni Basumatary, popularly known as Durmao who breathed her last in the morning at her own residence in Kanthalguri village in the district.Her family members told Assam Times that the end came at 8-30 in the morning because of her brief ailment.Beside being a village headwoman and she was associated with a number of social activities.
