PHE sensitize students on health and hygiene

The Public Health Engineering Department, Kokrajhar Division-I has been organising various events on the occasion of World Environment Day from June 5 and campaign will conclude tomorrow, with the support of the Water and Sanitation Support Organization (WSSO), Public Health Engineering Department, Assam.


 The World Environment Day (WED) is celebrated every year on June 5 to raise global awareness to take positive environmental action to protect nature and the planet earth. The PHE department as its commitment towards ensuring better public health by ensuring safe drinking water and sanitation facilities is organizing various events both at state and district level.

The PHE officials  visited remote areas and organized community awareness and mobilization on issues of Water, Sanitation, Hygiene and Environment in Chatali LP School near Gauripur along the Kokrajhar –Dhubri border, Athiabari LP School and Lwkhwnabari LP School under Dotma Block in Kokrajhar.

They discussed with the school students about the intricate relation with hygiene, sanitation and environment; on water quality and solid liquid waste management. A practical demonstration of hand washing and water quality testing by using FTK were performed in schools.

The PHE is holding a drawing competition among the students and village meeting at Saralpara village along the Indo-Bhutan border in Kokrajhar district.
