Chief minister Tarun Gogoi on Monday made it plain and simple that his government wants 2014 voter list as one of the supportive documents to update the national registrar of citizens.

Responding to the legislators who asked him to clear his position, Gogoi said that the list would be required if the documents earlier announced by the Supreme Court are not available for an indigenous citizen.

He said that his government has already moved the Supreme Court for consideration which has not so far rejected the affidavit.

Mr. Tarun Gogoi is going mad because the assembly election of Assam is approaching. He is such a person who knows only vote bank politics. He is a useless Chief Minister of Assam who has no interest to protect the indigenous communities of Assam rather he is ready to protect the illegal Bangladeshis who entered illegally to our land. The vote bank politics of Congress in Assam will lead our state to be part of Bangladesh. Tarun Gogoi will sell Assam to Bangladesh and he along with his family will settlen down in London.

Land allotment probe in Guwahati

 The Assam government on Saturday ordered a probe into the alleged allotment of land in Guwahati Metropolitan area, particularly on wetlands and water bodies. Official sources told Assam Times  that Gogoi asked Chief Secretary Jitesh Khosla to ensure the conduct of the inquiry by Bhaskar Barua. According to information, the terms of reference of the inquiry would be to identify the officials involved in illegal and arbitrary settlement of land in Guwahati metropolitan area. /

Alarming rise in Japanese encephalitis

Japanese Encephalitis continues to wreak havoc forcing the authorities to step up measures to contain the situation. Dutta meeting Gandhis in Delhi

Senior Congress leader Anjan Dutta will call on Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi on Saturday to clear his position on the dissidence within the Congress legislature party. AGP dharna on Monday

Asom Gana Parishad is all set to stage dharna in Guwahati on Monday in protest against the move to provide asylum to the Bangladeshi nationals who fled to the state to get rid of communal riot. Party leaders told Assam Times that the party leaders and workers would stage dharna at Dighalipukhui on Monday demanding governor JB Patnak’s intervention to stop the move.  Chief minister Tarun Gogoi on Friday asked the policemen to firmly deal with human trafficking, witch hunting, financial fraud and cyber crimes. Interacting with senior police officials at the Assam police headquarters, Gogoi said that the law and order has improved a lot. Rhino killed in Kaziranga again

 After a brief halt poachers have struck again in Kaziranga where yet another rhinoceros was killed. Forest guards found the hornless carcass in Kohora during their routine visit sending shock and anger among the animal lovers. Poachers were believed to have used AK-47 rifles and handmade guns to kill the rhino on Thursday night. An axe was found near the carcass. Poachers have so far killed altogether 22 rhinos within the last seven months.

AGP-AIUDF support to dissident!

 Disappointed dissident ministers and MLAs are trying to reach out to a section AGP, BPF and AIUDF legislators to form an alternative government in Dispur if Sonia Gandhi fails to dislodge Tarun Gogoi as chief minister this week. The dissident ministers and MLAs on Thursday threaten to take a drastic step if party high command fails to dislodge Tarun Gogoi as chief minister by Saturday. Addressing a press conference in Dispur on Thursday, they said that they have been waiting for the party high command’s response to their demands. “If we are unheard we are ready to face any eventuality,” they said.
