Chief minister Tarun Gogoi on Monday made it plain and simple that his government wants 2014 voter list as one of the supportive documents to update the national registrar of citizens.

Responding to the legislators who asked him to clear his position, Gogoi said that the list would be required if the documents earlier announced by the Supreme Court are not available for an indigenous citizen.

He said that his government has already moved the Supreme Court for consideration which has not so far rejected the affidavit.

Mr. Tarun Gogoi is going mad because the assembly election of Assam is approaching. He is such a person who knows only vote bank politics. He is a useless Chief Minister of Assam who has no interest to protect the indigenous communities of Assam rather he is ready to protect the illegal Bangladeshis who entered illegally to our land. The vote bank politics of Congress in Assam will lead our state to be part of Bangladesh. Tarun Gogoi will sell Assam to Bangladesh and he along with his family will settlen down in London.

AGP looks for new president

 The Asom Gana Parishad seems to have landed in fresh crisis. Prafulla Kumar Mahanta has resigned as president on Monday allowing the party to look for a new head. Mahanta tendered his resignation at the party’s executive body meeting held at its party headquarters in Ambari. T he former chief minister resigned owning moral responsibility of the party’s defeat in the recent Lok Sabha polls where it failed even to open the account.  The party could not retain its Rajya Sabha seat in the polls held in February. Escalating tension in Barpeta

The Baksa district administration keeps army on stand-by in view of escalating tension after security forces recovered three more bodies from the Beki River on Sunday. The police resorted to blank firing to disperse a mob for holding a protest against the Baksa killing by violating the indefinite curfew in Salbari sub-division and Anand Bazar area in the afternoon. All bodies found in Baksa

 JINTUL TALUKDAR, BAKSA: Security forces on Sunday have recovered the remaining bodies of the lemon traders two days after they were kidnapped by suspected NDFB-S militants in Baksa district. Army and police spotted the bodies with the help of local residents at the Beki river in the afternoon raising fear of a fresh string of ethnic clashes. All the bodies bore the injury marks in the heads. NDFB-S has denied involvement. But police suspect that Bodo militants are behind this violence but no arrests have yet been made. The army has been deployed to Baksa and a curfew is in place.

Former bureaucrat died

 In a most shocking incident, a former bureaucrat died after he slipped from a moving train in West Bengal on Saturday. The incident took place near Shamuktala station in the neighbouring state where retired Water Resources Department secretary Dilip Kumar Chetia was killed after he fell from the Delhi-bound Rajdhani Express. According to eyewitness, Chetia fell from the train as he was standing at the door of the moving train. His son Hrisiraj Chetia identified the body on Sunday at the Alipurduar District Hospital where the body was taken for post mortem.
