The government will take tough action against the alleged malpractice in the name of steps to update NRC. Chief minister disclosed it when he reviewed the progress of the ongoing process in Dispur on Tuesday. He directed all the Deputy Commissioners to look into the matter and take remedial measures. The Chief Minister also directed the officials to ensure that the names of all genuine Indian citizens are included and those of the foreigners are excluded from the NRC.
Dispur is writing to New Delhi seeking inclusion of those in the N RC whose names appeared in the electoral rolls of the country by virtue of them ‘being Indians’, in the National Register of Citizens (NRC), which is being updated. The decision was finalized at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Tuesday. The meeting discussed the names of the genuine citizens whose names figure in the electoral rolls. Gogoi also directed initiation of appropriate steps for deputing State government officials to every household for filling up the NRC forms.
Over 10 lakh pilgrims are likely to visit the kamakhya temple premises on the occasion of the ambubachi fair which is underway. Talking to Assam Times, organizers said over 5 lakh pilgrims are on the way. Some of them have already reached the city to be brought to the venue by transport, train and ferry. “ We have the medical and disaster management team with us to be deployed as occasion demands,” said organizers. The authorities are working to ensure uninterrupted power and water supply to the camps along with comfortable sanitation and hygiene.

Yet another incident of racial attack on the north east girl in Delhi sends shock and anger across the region on Tuesday.The incident took place in Tilok Nagar area where a group of five youths tried to molest a Mizo girl at night. The miscreants stopped the girl who was coming at a car with one of her friends. Then they tried to molest her in full view of her friend. But they were resisted. The youths further broke the glass of the car in which she was travelling.
