The Centre has approved Rs. 1,387 crore to implement flood control measures in the state.Official sources told Assam Times that the fund was sanctioned against 41 flood control related schemes.The Water Resources department has received sanctions for eight schemes worth Rs 42 crore for Barak valley under the Chief Minister’s Special Package.

A section of Muslim people refuses to go with the Yoga Day alleging it a forcible attempt of the NDA government. Amid utter confusion over the counter insurgency operation in Myanmar, army accused the rebel outfits of spreading rumours to boost their sagging morale.In a statement on Wednesday, army claimed to have decimated NDFB (Songbijit), ULFA (Anti-Talk) and KLO during the recent Myanmar operation. Army observed that a section of the insurgents have been resorting to media to spread the rumour. Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Wednesday accused Narendra Modi of helping Lalit Modi saying that without Prime Minister’s help a known offender can’t proceed to such an extent.Talking to reporters in Guwahati, Gogoi said the support for Lalit Modi was amounted to impropriety.Gogoi observed, "the Modi government and BJP are providing all facilities Lalit Modi to evade tax.”"Without the help and support from the prime minister, the foreign minister can’t help a person who has a red alert issued against him,” he told reporters.
