VDP Bhawan inaugurated

BTAD Inspector General of Police(IGP),Dr L R Bishnoi inaugurated the newly constructed VDP Bhawan at Kokrajhar Sadar police station complex in the presence of high police officers on Tuesday.  It was constructed from police welfare fund for the welfare of VDP men in the district.

BTAD bandh paralyses normal life

Jothai club beat Avalence club

ASEB beat Railway

The Assam State Electricity Board (ASEB) beat South Eastern Railway from Jharkhand 6-0 in the Daoharu Mungklong Trophy at Dotma DASA ground in Monday’s match in Kokrajhar. For ASEB, Biplob Kundu scored first goal 12 minutes, Rahul Das in 28 minutes, Sonatumba Sarma in 36 minutes, Apurba Phukon in 42 minutes, Diphu Mirdha in 62 minutes and Dwimalu Brahma scored goal in 69 minutes and led the team to win 6-0 goals. Bongaigaon XI Star Club will take on Kashibari Youth Club on Tuesday in second quarter final.  

Mahalaya observed in Kokrajhar

Kokrahar observed Mahalaya with traditional religious fervor on Monday to mark the count down to the Durga puja celebration. Devotees thronged in hundreds at at the Brahma Mandar in Kantalguri early in the morning to witness the religious formality.Priest Sachindra Basumatary performed Brahma Jogyahuti at  Kantalguri village by offering prayers to the almighty god for peace and harmony among all sections of communities in the region. 

Stress on girl children

The Nedan Foundation, an NGO Kokrajhar based working on social protection and upliftment, observed “International Day of Girl Children” with a daylong programme at Anthaigwlao, Weaving Destination Livelihood campus in Kokrajhar on Sunday.  Don Bosco Higher Secondary School principal Damian Basumatary in his speech encouraged the children saying that every girl should come up for their rights and development.  Girl children from different displaced locations of Kokrajhar including Saralpara, Ultapani, Kachugaon, Navarbita, Duramari, New Basbari etc. participated in the programme. Bikers crushed to death

Two persons died when a moving truck rammed into a bike in which they were riding in Kokrajhar district on Sunday. The tragic incident took place in the afternoon when Bhanudev Basumatary and Harkeswar Roy were travelling to Patgaon from Ramfalbikk on the National Highway. Suddenly, the truck which was coming from the same direction rammed into the bikers leaving them died on the spot.        

Narrow escape for NDFB-S top

Dreaded NDFB-S militant B Bidai was believed to have a narrow escape when security forces raided a remote village in Chirang district on Sunday.Acting on a tip off, police and CRPF jawans conducted a raid in Amlaigur village in the BTAD district where a fierce gun battle took place in the wee hours. A linkman is said to have been killed in the encounter where the most wanted militant managed to disappear from the spot. Security forces have been cordoning off the entire are in search of the fatal militant. Police claimed to have seized some arms and ammunition from the spot.   

Mohilary listens to partymen

BPF supremo Hagrama Mohilary on Saturday openly and closely talked to the partymen at the grassroot level in two places in BTAD areas and asked them to strengthen the party ahead of the Assam Assembly elections early next year.Mohilary, on Saturday hold party meeting with primary member and party workers from grassroots at Aflagaon, Diplai in Banargaon and Bhaukungri blocks and closely listened to them about the problems. He was flanked by BTC executive members Rajib Brahma, Doneswar Goyary along with party leaders of Banargaon block 

Kamaleswar football trophy for Barhoongka

Barhoongka Athletics Club from Kokrajhar defeated Veteran FC, Assam and lifted the 3rd Kamaleswar Brahma memorial football trophy in the final match 7-0 at the Ramfalbil RNB ground in Kokrajhar on Saturday.For Barhoongka, Lamminthang Touthang netted his first goal in 15 minutes, Pranab Das scored two goals in 25 minutes and 45+2 minutes which led the team with scoring of 30 in the first half. For Barhoongka, A Angjangpu Kabui scored another goal in 50 minutes, Nwukwu Michael scored goal in 70 minutes while Lamminthang Touthang scored two more goals in 72 minutes and 76 minutes in the second half and won the trophy. BTC executive member for Sports and Youth Welfare Doneswar Goyary...

Proneeta fetching glory for NE

Finally, Proneeta Swargiyary clinched the DID Season 5 title by the Zee TV fetching no less pride and glory for the north eastern region. Proneeta, a school girl hailing from Baska district of Assam was adjudged the best one on Friday in Mumbai. The recorded event would be screened in Zee TV Saturday. Many organizations and individuals in the state are celebrating the victory as soon as the result of the event spread like wild fire across the north eastern region. Various organizations in BTAD have been campaigning for Proneeta for the last couple of days.
