Stress on girl children

The Nedan Foundation, an NGO Kokrajhar based working on social protection and upliftment, observed “International Day of Girl Children” with a daylong programme at Anthaigwlao, Weaving Destination Livelihood campus in Kokrajhar on Sunday. 

 Don Bosco Higher Secondary School principal Damian Basumatary in his speech encouraged the children saying that every girl should come up for their rights and development. 

 Girl children from different displaced locations of Kokrajhar including Saralpara, Ultapani, Kachugaon, Navarbita, Duramari, New Basbari etc. participated in the programme. Apart from that students of Don Bosco school Amguri, students of higher education programme of Nedan Foundation and IT student supported by Nedan also took part in the programme where they performed dance and drama on issues like child marriage, child labour, child protection (awareness on 1098 toll free no.), trafficking. 

 It was an initiative of Nedan Foundation to provide a platform to the most privileged girls and under privileged girls to come in one place and share their experience.
