The Assam Human Rights Commission has written to Dispur seeking a report on the alleged failure to firmly deal with the outbreak of Japanese Encephalitis that killed atleast 100 people during that last couple of days.
The state rights panel issued the notice to chief secretary JS Khosla taking a suo moto cognizance of a petition filed by Dr Zoii NathSarma alleging violation of human rights by the concerning authorities by not taking preventive measures.
The Commission has asked for a report of the inclusive enquiry into the allegations within 30 days.

Guwahati: Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman launched distribution of Rs 240 crore to over 7 lakh tea garden workers at a function in Guwahati on Saturday.
