1 dead in food poisoning; no arrest

Diphu: There is no breakthrough in the food poisoning case in Diphu 2 days after a BJP worker died and over 130 fell ill when they consumed packet launched served at a government function.

The food packets were rushed from Guwahati to serve the people who attended a ceremony to begin the academic session of the Diphu Medical College Hospital by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and health ministers Himanta Biswa Sarma and Piyush Hazarika.

One hour after they the people consumed the food, many people started vomiting and complained stomach ailment and were rushed to DMCH. A BJP worker died when his condition deteriorated.

Local authorities have ordered a probe. But there is no breakthrough. Nobody has been arrested yet.
