The Assam Government has recommended NIA probe into the BTAD violence where at least 33 people were killed.

Talking to reporters after the cabinet meeting in Dispur, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said that this is a fit case for NIA probe.

Gogoi said that his government has sought extra forces from the Centre apart from Cobra forces to firmly deal with the situation.

Dr MMS is the MP from Assam and he should take the moral responsibilty for the violence. The UPA and state government who had been ruling for the last 10 years must be blamed for such butchery. But Congress sees only shadow of Modi on anything. The Congress leaders leaders who used to revel in the luxury and comforts in Delhi offices were always apathetic towards the violence in Kashmir and  Punjab during the 1970's and 1980's. The secular leaders were more philosohical and much less practical in understanding the problems of people in all parts of the country. There was similar violence in 2012 in NE. Then the government should have take precautionary measures to avert the occurance of similar incidents. When there is NO capable ruler or leader at the centre, the state governments will also follow the anarchy. "Yatha Raja Thatha Praja" means "AS THE RULER SO THE RULED". If the king of the country is of good character, with good heart and always thinking of well-being of his subjects, and if he is a spiritual thinker and peaceful minded, his subjects will be like him in all these ways too

Cabinet to get 4 new faces

Mission Indradhanush begins

The much waited children immunization gets underway on Monday to keep seven dreaded diseases at bay in the state.Launched under the `Mission Indradhanush, the programme in this phase covers eight districts - Hailakandi, Karimganj, Dhubri, Bongaigaon, Kokrajhar, Goalpara. Darramg and Nagaon.Health officials in Dispur told Assam Times that the immunization program is covering unvaccinated children below two years.“It would protect the children from diseases - Diphtheria, Whooping Cough, Tetanus, Polio, Tuberculosis, Measles and Hepatitis B,” said a senior official.According to information, immunization is taking place in 2,060 places in the eight districts with 300 mobile teams.

Chief minister Tarun Gogoi on Sunday underscored the need to bring in innovative legislations, both operational as well as structural in the judiciary to cater to the needs of the society in tune with changing surroundings.In his address at the Conference of Chief Ministers and Chief Justices of High Courts on Sunday in Delhi, Gogoi outlined a slew of initiatives taken by the state government to strengthen judicial infrastructure and manpower that included sanctioning of 36 new courts, converting 20 ad-hoc fast track courts to regular courts, sanctioning of 54 new fast-track courts for trial of offences against women and doubling the number of courts at subordinate levels.He said the new...

Concern over court pendency

Chief minister Tarun Gogoi expressed grave concern over the alarming rate of pendency of cases which he blamed it on the delay in the delivery of justice.In his address at the Conference of Chief Ministers and Chief Justices of High Courts on Sunday in Delhi, he said, the synergy must be directed towards innovation of new ways that will enable clearing of backlog of pending cases and ensure speedy justice to our citizens.He called for proper training of judicial officers to maintain the quality of the system. The chief minister further stressed time-bound implementation of e-Court project to 'bring about sea-changes in the justice delivery system.
