PM coming to cast vote

Dispur turns into a security fortress a day before the third and final phase of Lok Sabha polls. Dispur Govt HS School seems to have drawn maximum concentration of the security forces.

Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh is all set to visit the school to exercise his franchise on Thursday. Dr Singh, who is on his last visit to the state as a prime minister, is scheduled to arrive in Guwahati Airport at 12 noon by a special plane.

Then Dr Singh, who represents Assam in the Rajya Sabha, will straightly leave for Dispur by a helicopter where he would cast his vote at the Dispur Govt HS School at around 12-30.

During his brief visit to the capital city, Dr Singh will meet chief minister Tarun Gogoi and state Congress president Bhubneswar Kalita.

A team of special protection group has already arrived in the school premises to ensure safety and security of the prime minister whom Assam adopted in 1991.

Cost of PM and his family visit for casting vote in Assam msut be recover from his personal account as voter has to trevel to electoral booth at own cost/vehical as per the People Representation Act, there is no provisin of TA/DA/others allowances to voter for casting their votes

Escalating tension along Assam-Mizoram border

Silchar: Tension is escalating along the Assam-Mizoram border after a group of miscreants from the neighbouring north eastern state pounded on a section of people in the territory of Assam.  The incident took place suddenly at Lailapur area in Cachar district when a group of Mizo miscreants started indiscriminate firing in the area terrorizing the people of Assam.  Then some of the miscreants started setting afire as many as ten big and small business establishments owned by the people of Assam.  A team of Assam Police and central para military force arrived in the spot and disposed the miscreants and it took several hours for the Mizoram police to reach the spot....

Guwahati: A police team has arrested a local BJP leader in Guwahati after it registered a suo motto case alleging a scam in the recruitment of employees in the panchayat and rural development department. Guwahati: After a brainstorming session in Guwahati on Thursday Congress, CPI, CPM have agreed to fight unitedly to keep BJP at bay in the 2021 assembly polls. The leaders of all the three parties to hit the streets alleging corruption, utter lawlessness across the state. Convened at the hotel Gateway Grandeur, the meeting further discussed the preparation of a common minimum programme to sort out the issues. Congress opposes Madrassa closure move

Guwahati: The BJP-led government's move to close down around 1200 Madrassas hits a major hurdle with Congress vehemently opposing it. State Congress president Ripun Bora said that the party/s position was very clear and that they will keep opposing the move. Bora further called the decision unconstitutional and that the government cant take such a decision in a secular country. Raijor Dol starts campaign in Dhemaji

Raijor dol, the new political initiation lead by KMSS in support of seventy different indigenous organizations of Assam has a big motorbike rally in Dhemaji on Tuesday.
