144 CrPC promulgated in Udalguri

UDALGURI: In a bid to maintain normalncy,peace and tranquility in purview of the complete draft publication of NRC and forthcoming 72nd Independence day celebration,to thwart the nefarious attempts of rumour mongers and restrict the movement of insurgents along the Indo-Bhutan and Assam-Arunachal border.The Udalguri District Magistrate Dilip Kumar Das has promulgated an order under Section 144 CrPC in the entire district with immediate effect on Sunday,prohibiting assembly of more than five people in public place, carrying and display of firearms or lethal weapons,wall writing or fixing of posters,pillion riding in motorbikes and use of loudspeakers. However,judicial officers,executive magistrates,police personnel, army and paramilitary forces,medical officers and any person to whom permission is accorded from the Udalguri District administration are exempted from the purview of this order.Prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC are usually promulgated when there is an apprehension of a law and order situation
