Actor joins TMC

Noted film actor Biju Phukan joined Trinamool Congress in presence of Mamata Banerjee at a function in Guwahati on Wednesday.

Phukan, who once contested the assembly polls from AGP told the TMC boss that he was prepared to fight the polls.

People thronged in thousands at the sarusajai Stadium to attend the TMC rally where Mamata Banerjee drew appreciation.

Ms. Banerjee clarified, while addressing a party rally in Guwahati, that Trinamool Congress was a part of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance government when it was headed by Atal Bihari Vajpayee but her party would not support any party that incites communal violence and hatred on the basis of religion, caste, creed or community.

GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said that he has urged the Centre to allow the state to continue the lock down by 2 more weeks. Addressing a press conference in Guwahati on Friday, Sonowal said that many areas in the state are still vulnerable. He further said that the extended lockdown period would help them contain the possible outbreak of more such cases following the arival of thousands of people who were remaining stranded outside the state. Guwahati: The BJP-led coalition government's much hyped yeoman service stands exposed with one after returnees disclosing their miseries.  The journey by bus to the state was not at all free.  The quarantine in hotels in Guwahati lack basic facilities.  That too for Rs.5000. A returnee here disclosed the zero medical treatment facilities for her along with two others at a hotel where she was lodged on Thursday.  She along with two are returnees from Kota in Rajasthan along with 200 other. Guwahati: Three more people in the state have tested positive in COVID19. This was what health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said in Guwahati on Friday. The trio was among the 40 others who started  Silchar from Ajmeer by a bus two days back.  Five tested positive on Thursday while the trio received confirmation report on Friday.
