Actor joins TMC

Noted film actor Biju Phukan joined Trinamool Congress in presence of Mamata Banerjee at a function in Guwahati on Wednesday.

Phukan, who once contested the assembly polls from AGP told the TMC boss that he was prepared to fight the polls.

People thronged in thousands at the sarusajai Stadium to attend the TMC rally where Mamata Banerjee drew appreciation.

Ms. Banerjee clarified, while addressing a party rally in Guwahati, that Trinamool Congress was a part of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance government when it was headed by Atal Bihari Vajpayee but her party would not support any party that incites communal violence and hatred on the basis of religion, caste, creed or community.

Nagaon: A local court in  Nagaon has sent Aminul Islam to 14 days judicial custody on Tuesday after the police arrested the AIUDF MLA for spreading false rumour on quarantine. Nagaon: Police have arrested AIUDF MLA from Dhing Aminul Islam charging him with misleading the people in the time of COVID-19 outbreak. Guwahati: The North Eastern Regional Agricultural Marketing Corporation Ltd (NERAMAC) has inducted Manoj Kumar Das in its helms at a time when enterprising fraternity in the northeastern region are having a tough time. Das joined as managing director in the Central Public Sector Enterprise in addition to his current assignment in the North Eastern Development Finance Corporation Ltd. (NEDFi) as Deputy General Manager. Guwahati: The figure of COVID19 cases has reached 20 with 4 more people tested positive on Friday. According state health minister Hemanta Biswa Sarma, of these three from Nalbari while the remaining one is from North Salmara. Guwahati: More and more COVID 19 positive cases have been surfacing. Two more people have tested positive in Goal para with travel history to Delhi where they attended the religious congregation at Nizamuddin. Guwahati: Four more people have tested COVID 19 positive at Guwahati Medical College Hospital on Wednesday taking figure of positive cases to 5. According to state health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, GMCH laboratory has confirmed COVID19 positive in Jamaluddin Arshad Ali, Hazarat Ali, Nuruddin and Jonab Ali, who attended the religious function held at Nizamuddin in Delhi in mid March. Sarma said that all those who attended the congragation in the capital city have yet to arrive in thte state. Sivasagar: The Dibrugarh police again arrested Akhil Gogoi immediately after the peasant leader stepped out of the Sibsagar Central Jail on Wednesday. Guwahati: The participating people in the religious function at the Nizamuddin shrine have been figured after the state confirmed the first one COVID19 patient undergoing treatment at the Silchar Medical College Hospital in Delhi. According to information, altogether 299 people attended the function along with 3000 others from the country and abroad on March 13 and 14. Those who have been listed out have been under to undergo medical scanning at this stage.  Kpkrajhar MP Nabo Sarania also visited the shrine.  But he told a Guwahati based media that he visited the place to meet one of the participating people.
