Very happy to know that the association is continuing to do well and growing. I had the privilege of being the President of the association around 1981-82 when I was a Professor of IIT-Madras ( now Chennai). During Assam Movement, we published the Brahmaputra Beckons. A security personnel deployed to guard a coal trader surrendered before on Sunday after he was accused in a shoot out case in Guwahati.The incident took place at Kundil Nagar in Beltola area where the security man fired upon two youths in front of the Prabhat Apartment in the evening.The two bike riders, manage to escape safely. But local residents in large number came out to the streets and demanded action against the security personnel.Local residents told Assam Times that the security personnel deployed to guard a coal businessman targeted the youths bereft of any reason.Later at 7-30 in the evening, he surrendered before the Basistha police.        ...
