Very happy to know that the association is continuing to do well and growing. I had the privilege of being the President of the association around 1981-82 when I was a Professor of IIT-Madras ( now Chennai). During Assam Movement, we published the Brahmaputra Beckons. Only a month remains for the Assemby polls.AGP is ready to announce its second list of the candidates for the upcoming polls slated for April 4 and 11. Party president Chandra Mohan Patowary is expected to announce nits second list on Friday. BJP is also all out to put up a good show. Ashok Saikia, one of the top bureaucrats during the Atal Behari Vajpayee government serving then as a Joint Secretary in the PMO and later executive director of the Asian Development Bank in Manila in July 2004, died in New Delhi this morning after a heart surgery. A 24-hour Kamrup Bandh was called by the co-ordination committee of different trade bodies and chambers of commerce protesting the recent bomb blast at Athgaon. The bandh has evoked good response within Guwahati as well as the suburbs.
