Miss Dima Hasao Beauty Pageant

With intent to provide the women a platform to showcase their talent, gain confidence and to be better prepared to face the modern day challenges and to further boost Women empowerment, the Silver Jubilee Battalion in association with Dima Hasao Autonomous Council organized a musical extravaganza cum "Miss Dima Hasao Beauty Pageant” at the District Library Auditorium on Tuesday.

The grand event was witnessed by Brig Gajinder Singh, Commander 22 Sector Assam Rifles, Mr Debojit Thosen, Chief Executive Member, Dima Hasao Autonomous Council and other dignitaries and officials from the district.

The event started with an enthralling musical performance by various bands from Haflong followed by the first round of the beauty pageant. The Jazz band of Haflong based Assam Rifles Battalion also played soothing melodies.

From all over district there were several participants who appeared for the screening and 18 were short listed as finalists. The 18 contestants gave a tough competition to each other in all the rounds with their stunning beauty and mesmerizing catwalks.

Finally the jury announced the result of the Beauty Pageant and Miss Loisy Nem Nunhoi from Haflong was crowned as MISS DIMA HASAO-2013", with Miss Shalu Swati Agarwal being adjudged the first runner up Miss Pratiba Nunisa as the second runner up.

It is to be mentioned here that with the various developmental projects undertaken in the district by the Haflong based Assam Rifles Battalion was known for its Samaritan activities. The Battalion has carried out various projects for the empowerment of women of the district, which had borne the brunt of insurgency over the past two decades. These projects included provision of equipment for vocational training to Longmang Mahila Samati, Sewing machines to Minaret Women's society, organizing debates on the issue and many more.
