National Integration Tun at Haflong

To commemorate the 64th Republic Day of the Nation, a national integration run was organized by the Haflong based Assam Rifles Battalion under the aegis of Headquarters 22 Sector Assam Rifles at N L Daolagupu Play ground on Thursday. 

This national integration run was conducted for the school kids of 1st to 12th standard in Haflong town.  The aim of conducting this run was to spread peace and harmony and to strengthen the bond between Assam Rifles and the locals.  The run commenced from DSA ground and the kids completed a distance of approx 5 km which finished at DSA ground.  Honourable CEM Mr Debojit Thausen of DHAC Flagged off the run.  Event was witnessed by various dignitaries of Haflong town including Col R Nair, Addl DIG 22 Sector Assam Rifles and Col P S Arora, Commandant 25 Assam Rifles.  Approximately 300 students from various schools participated in the event with full Zeal and enthusiasm.  On termination of the run the winners were awarded with prizes and certificates from Assam Rifles.  A display of weapons and equipments was also organized for the school children and the local population under the theme ‘know your Assam Rifles’. The motive of the display was to instill confidence among the local populace that Assam Rifles is always present for their safety and security. Moreover, the display was also a motivation for the school children many of whom aspired to join the Armed Forces.
