Assam Cooperative University starts BBA session

Assam Rajiv Gandhi University of Cooperative Management (ARGUCOM), established in 2010 has geared up for its First batch of students for its three year BBA (Coop.) for the session 2013-16.

ARGUCOM is the First Cooperative Management University in the country established under Assam Rajiv Gandhi University of Cooperative Management Act, 2010. UGC in February, 2012 gave recognition to the University with the empowerment to grant degrees under section 22 of the UGC Act, 1956. The Academic Architecture of the University has been designed to incorporate Five Schools, viz., School of Entrepreneurship and Management, School of Innovation and Technology, School of Culture and Media, School of Public Policy and Law and School of Ecology and Sustenance.

The University is set up at Sivasagar, in Assam. It is a teaching, residential University, with the mission of education for widening knowledge and learning, training for enhancing skill & managerial capacity, research for searching innovative spheres and to make efforts for all round development of cooperative movement and rural economy.

BBA (Coop.) is spread over three years based on trimester system of curriculum involving academic rigour and wide course coverage. The Programme is designed with a thoughtful blending of courses from the five schools with the mission of bringing a transition in the mindset of students from being job-seekers towards becoming entrepreneurs. The juxtaposition of courses from five schools provides comprehensive knowledge in the holistic pursuit of developing entrepreneurs. Pedagogy is a plethora of diverse activities like Management Games, Case–Studies, to initiate motivation of the students towards the Programme and in the ultimate goal of the University in developing entrepreneurs.

The University has tied up with IIM-Ahmadabad in the process of its design of curriculum. Besides, the University is in the process of collaborating with Institutions of repute like National Law University, Delhi, Indian Institute of Forest Management, Bhopal, etc for its academic pursuits.

Admission for the Programme BBA (Coop.) for the session 2013-16 commences online from February 20, 2013 and closes on April 30, 2013. 10+2 passed candidates with 50% marks (45% for reserved categories) or appearing candidates in either of Science/Arts/Commerce streams can apply for admission into the Programme.

The Admission Test (AET UG-2013) would be held on May 19, 2013 (Sunday) across 19 Centres all over the country. In Assam the Test would be held in Guwahati, Sivasagar, Bongaigaon, Silchar and Lakhimpur. The detailed process of admission is available on the website of the University- www.argucom.org.in.
