Tiwa Autonomous Council pol on Aug 19

The Assam State Election Commission vide a Notification issued on Wednesday has imposed model code of conduct in connection with the second election to the Tiwa Autonomous Council which is going to be held on August 19, 2015. 

The Commission has notified schedule for preparation and publication of constituency wise Electoral Roll to the Tiwa Autonomous Council.

As per the schedule, the last date of filing nominations is July 29, 2015 between 11 am to 3 pm. The nomination papers will be scrutinized on July 30, 2015 up to 3 pm and on the same day the list of validly nominated candidates will be declared. Last date for withdrawal of candidature is August 1, 2015 up to 3 pm. On the same day, the list of contesting candidates will be published. 

Poll will be held on August 19, 2015 from 8 am to 4 pm. Re-poll (if any) will be held on August 21, 2015 from 8 am to 4 pm. Counting will be held on August 22, 2015 from 8 am till completion of counting process.

It may be noted that excluding public holidays, the nomination papers will be received on all working days including 4th Saturday between 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. 

The Commission has already appointed DEOs, ROs, EROs, AEROs in respect of 36 constituencies of the Tiwa Autonomous Council for preparation and publication of Electoral Rolls.

It may be noted that the State Election Commission has adjourned the process of preparation of Electoral Rolls in 6 constituencies of Tiwa Autonomous Council situated in Kamrup (M) District, namely, No. 26 Dimoria, No. 32 Digaru, No. 33 Khetri, No. 34 Sonapur, No. 35 Ampri and No. 36 Phong-Ari, keeping in view the agitation programme resorted to by a section of people against holding Election in these constituencies. 

The Final Electoral Rolls in 30 constituencies under Morigaon and Nagaon Districts excluding the 6 constituencies of Kamrup (M) District was published on July 7, 2015.

The 30 constituencies where the election to the Tiwa Autonomous Council will be held along with their reservation status are: 1 No. Jamadari (ST Women); 2 No. Borongoni (ST); 3 No. Bhurbandha (ST Women); 4 No. Konwargaon (ST Women); 5 No. Dhekiphala (ST); 6 No. Manipur (ST); 7 No. Gamari (ST); 8 No. Ghagua (ST); 9 No. Dhamal (ST); 10 No. Tetelia (ST); 11 No. Junbeel (ST); 12 No. Na-khula (ST); 13 No. Nelie Khala (ST); 14 No. Gobha (ST); 15 No. Bihubori (ST); 16 No. Solmari (Open); 17 No. Bhumuraguri (ST); 18 No. Charipunia Chabukdhara (ST); 19 No. Borchila (ST); 20 No. Borpujia (ST Women); 21 No. Topakuchi (ST Women); 22 No. Pukhuripar (Open); 23 No. Jorabari (Open); 24 No. Jongalbalahu (ST); 25 No. Chahari (Open); 27 No. Kaki (Open); 28 No. Lutumari (Open); 29 No. Kamargaon (ST); 30 No. Nambor Lalung (ST) and 31 No. Lalungpar (ST).

The reservation of seats for women in the Council has been notified on July 21, 2015.
