Bollywood stars to grace Prag Cine Award

This time the 5th edition of Prag Cine Awards will be graced by a host of Bollywood celebrities including the directors Mahesh Bhatt, Kalpana Lajmi, Puja Bhatt and actors Adil Hussain, Munmun Sen and others which is scheduled to be held on April 12.

The Cine award even which was started by Prag Channel in 2003 is the major such event on the films in the region. CMD, Prag channel, Sanjive Narain said, “Their presence will definitely make the programme more sparkling. It will also be an opportunity for our artistes to meet these personalities. In order to give a platform to the cine artistes of Assamese film industry, we have been giving this award since 2003. It is a good sign for the industry that last year around twelve to thirteen Assamese films were released”.

Narain also mentioned that the film fraternity of Assam including actors and singers were rehearsing for the same and they would be giving a great stage performance at the upcoming award giving programme.

“There will be seven numbers of dance performances in the upcoming event. Assamese singers like Zubeen Garg, Dikshu, Mayukh Hazarika etc will also be performing and the awards will be distributed in between the performances,” Narain further added.

Regarding the event, he also informed that this time the whole programme was planned to host in a bigger way. Apart from the renowned Bollywood actors and directors, television actors from SAB TV, Sony, M TV etc will be taking part in the event to be held at GMCH auditorium.

Awards will be presented in twenty three categories and the process of screening of the movies by the members of the jury has been completed. “This year, lifetime achievement award will be presented to noted Assamese actor Biju Phukan for his contributions in the field of Assamese film industry,” Narain added.

Besides, the best music award, which is named after Bhupen Hazarika, will be presented by Kalpana Lajmi. The CMD, Prag channel also stated, “After Dwaar, we are now working on a movie based on Saint Sankardeva. We will announce the name of another movie at the event on April 12”.

The Additional District Magistrate of Kamrup (Metro) has promulgated Section 144 for safety, security and maintenance of public peace and tranquillity.
